THE FINANCING OF A COMPANY IN TIMES OF CRISIS

Many companies and many professionals consider it more important to business finance is to have experts with expertise in finance, people familiar with financial instruments and who can produce reports that banks require. However, in my experience of more than a decade in finance management by training, then take many years advising companies to negotiate with financial institutions and get the funding, after my postgraduate studies at IESE and other business schools, I have come to the conclusion that the keys to success are different.

While it is important to get an idea of how cash moves within the company, the most important thing is to have much common sense, be creative and be very positive and ambitious. As financial consultant I have solved the same problem many times but never in the same way. All this has depended on the circumstances of each company, the management style of your banking history, debt level, its customer base, their ambitions, guarantees, etc.. And all this is not a technical issue, is a management issue, management, search of opportunities, know how to negotiate, to be creative, managing interpersonal relationships, team work …

Therefore it will be impossible to get the liquidity of a company in crisis if the person managing the search for liquidity does so only from a technical standpoint. The ratios, negative responses from banks, finance providers who do not want, that is, whatever, will convince a mere technicality that it is absolutely impossible for the company to achieve the financing or refinancing. Will say that the company is at a point of no return, doomed to bankruptcy, if not to its liquidation or closure.

However if a person is positive and creative, working on a search for opportunities and managed through a good negotiation, will almost certainly be able to achieve what no one thought could be reached. Arriaga Associates has worked with a management team SMEs, being insolvent, did, in addition to refinancing, obtain significantly more funding.
